Veterinary nurses

Ali has worked here so long she cannot even remember when she started but we guess since 1983. She has always been one of the main pillars of the Practice. She became head nurse when she qualified in 1998. Ali became a Partner in 1999 and a Director in 2012. Ali oversees the training of the nurses but her main job description is to manage the whole Practice. Ali has two dogs, two cats and her biggest love is her horses.

Jess graduated from Nottingham Trent University as a qualified RVN in July 2017 after receiving her FdSc Degree. She studied at NTU for five years, initially completing an animal management course before completing her veterinary nursing. She is now carrying out a BSc top-up Veterinary Nursing degree. She has a family of three Schnauzers Named Porsha, Marley and Louie and two mini-lop eared rabbits. In her spare time she is often walking her dogs and studying.

Leah is a recently qualified RVN after graduating from NTU with an FdSc Degree. She is working full time at Thompsons after carrying out her placement year here with us. She is also continuing her education at NTU doing a BSc in Veterinary Nursing. Leah is very interested in exotic and zoo animals and hopes to peruse this at a later date.

She has one horse called matrix and two cats called Oscar and Tosh. Leah has a massive soft spot for cats! In her spare time she likes to eat and ride matrix.

Jeanette (Nettie) attended college in 2007 and completed her Animal Management Diploma. Nettie then worked with us here at Thompsons Veterinary Surgery, starting off by helping on reception, then becoming a nursing assistant and finally becoming an RVN in 2012. Nettie relocated to the Isle of Man in 2014, whilst there she became a qualified hydrotherapist! She returned to the UK in 2018 and finally became part of the Thompsons family again in December 2019.

Nettie loves the closeness of the small friendly team as well as the warm welcoming clients and pets. Nettie owns a dog called Gertie, in her spare time she can often be found out and about in the countryside with her husband, son and of course Gertie. She also enjoys watching live Motorsport.

Steph is an NTU student Veterinary nurse working towards her degree and is on her 10 week placement with us, she will be back next year for a full year’s placement! So far Steph’s favourite part of nursing is administering medication and she is really enjoying her placement. She absolutely loves Golden Retrievers and would eventually like to specialise in exotic nursing.

Steph absolutely loves small furries and currently owns two rats named Itchy and Scratchy, two guinea pigs named Snot and Sneeze, one cat named Marmalade and two dogs named Pug and Lola. In her free time Steph loves doing yoga and gymnastics.

Anastasia is an NTU 3rd year student veterinary nurse working towards her degree. She is currently on her placement year here with us at Thompsons which is full time! She absolutely loves providing nursing care to poorly patients.

Anastasia has three dogs named Tia, Ronald and Theo. In her spare time she is often found in the gym or revising for her course.

Sam is currently a nursing care assistant at Thompsons Veterinary Surgery however she has just enrolled onto a veterinary nursing diploma at Bottle green training college which will start in September. Sam’s favourite thing about nursing so far is monitoring inpatients and lab work such as carrying out blood work.

Sam has three Shih Tzu crosses named Teddy, Elvis and J-Lo. In her spare time she is often found walking her dogs and going to watch films at the cinema.
